GIS consulting
Some problems can’t be solved with out-of-the-box software. We provide end-to-end environmental intelligence solutions, including data acquisition, analysis, and ongoing change detection monitoring as needed.
GIS expertise for hire
Our team has spent decades at the intersection of environmental science and geospatial technology, which means we understand what the data ultimately means for the land and for your business.
Whatever the challenge, we scope it, build it, and deliver something your team can actually use — not a report that sits on a shelf. Every solution is built natively on the Esri ArcGIS platform, so deliverables integrate directly into your existing infrastructure.

“Without Skytec, we simply would not be in the leadership position of supply chain visibility that we find ourselves in today.”
— Jeremy Poirier, Senior Manager Fiber Certification and Sustainability at International Paper
Our custom-built geoAI solution in action
International Paper (NYSE: IP; LSE: IPC) needed a way to ensure every fiber source in their supply chain met rigorous sustainability standards. The challenge? Their supplier network spanned the globe, so verification was going to require an unprecedented scale.
So, we built ForSite®, an innovative geo-AI monitoring tool that gives IP continuous visibility into the environmental conditions of their fiber procurement areas. Now, they have a verified, auditable record of sustainable sourcing that they can market to their customers.

How we mapped every wetland in Tennessee in eight weeks
When federal wetland protections shifted, states were suddenly on the hook to manage their own. Tennessee needed to know exactly what wetlands it had. A special legislative session gave us eight weeks to predict every wetland in the state at three-meter resolution. So, we did.
Using geo-AI technologies paired with our decades of environmental management expertise, we mapped 800,000 additional acres of wetlands beyond what the National Wetland Inventory showed. Our solution was built at a fraction of the cost of traditional methods, with greater accuracy. TDEC now uses our wetland detection tool for every development project across the entire state.
In this webinar presented to the National Association of Wetland Managers (NAWM), Andy Carroll walks through exactly how Skytec created the tool and outlines how other states could follow suit.

Without Skytec and their innovation and ideas, we simply would not be in the leadership position of supply chain visibility that we find ourselves in today.

Jeremy Poirier
Sr Manager Fiber Certification and Sustainability

We’re a small organization with a lot of land. It’s not feasible for us to rely solely on patrolling our boundary lines on foot. With Skytec, we have extra eyes in the sky on our properties basically at all times. We catch issues early and notify state foresters quickly.

Eliot Berz
Executive Director

Skytec gave us the ability to identify our key habitats, such as our mountain bogs, our hemlock groves, our rhododendron, our bluff lines where neotropical bird species are coming through. With Skytec’s help, we decided where to construct our bird laboratory based on where we wanted people to enter our property and where we wanted to conduct our research.

Frequently asked questions
Ranger® is our continuous monitoring platform — a subscription product that watches your land on an ongoing basis and alerts you when something changes. GIS consulting is project-based: you come to us with a specific question or challenge, we scope and build a custom solution, and we deliver a finished product — a model, a map, a tool, or an analysis. The two often work together. International Paper, for example, came to us for GIS consulting and we built ForSite®; we later integrated Ranger® into that tool to add continuous satellite monitoring.
Every project is different, but our process is consistent. We start with a scoping conversation to understand your question, your data, your timeline, and your end use. From there we build a project plan, assemble the data stack, run the analysis or development work, and deliver a finished product that integrates into your existing ArcGIS environment. We stay involved through the handoff to make sure your team can actually use what we built. Most projects range from a few weeks for focused analytical work to several months for complex tool development.
