Nonprofit

You shouldn’t need a large staff to manage a large landscape. We help conservation nonprofits monitor all of their land in near real time.

Environmental intelligence for nonprofits

Most conservation nonprofits are managing more land than their teams can physically cover. Easements go unchecked for months. Restoration progress is hard to verify from a desk. Encroachments happen before anyone notices.

We help land trusts, conservation organizations, and environmental nonprofits close that gap — using near-daily satellite imagery and geo-AI to monitor the land they’re responsible for, catch problems before they become crises, and generate the verifiable data that backs up their stewardship work. All without requiring an enterprise IT budget or an in-house GIS team.

Boundary protection

Boundaries get pushed slowly over time. With our change detection platform, Ranger®, you’re alerted to issues right away, instead of finding out about problems years later.

How Skytec helped ACI site their remote bird observatory

The Appalachian Conservation Institute needed to identify the optimal location for a remote bird observatory within their almost 11,000 protected acres. We used high-resolution satellite imagery and spatial analysis to evaluate candidate sites without requiring extensive field surveys.

The result: a data-backed site selection that saved ACI months of ground-truthing and gave their team confidence in the decision before a single post was placed.

We’re a small organization with a lot of land. It’s not feasible for us to rely solely on patrolling our boundary lines on foot. With Skytec, we have extra eyes in the sky on our properties basically at all times. We catch issues early and notify state foresters quickly.

Skytec gave us the ability to identify our key habitats, such as our mountain bogs, our hemlock groves, our rhododendron, our bluff lines where neotropical bird species are coming through. With Skytec’s help, we decided where to construct our bird laboratory based on where we wanted people to enter our property and where we wanted to conduct our research.
